Svalbard

A narrow and steep crack will take us down into the glacier.Climbing down a vertical ladder, holding on to a rope and trying to place my feet onto the next step that leads us deeper and deeper into the glacier. Suddenly I am struck by anxiety, a blend of fear of heights and claustrophobia. I have to stop, breathe and control my fear. Shaken, I was rewarded by a magic universe. The colors and shapes of the ice, the thousand sparkles caused by our flashlights as we hiked further into the glacier. The amazing adventure inspired me to make Svalbard. I will continue to work with this technique and massive inspiration source in the near future.

Colored glass poured at 1260 C over plaster form which is then casted. Bullseye glass. Coldworked.
